Oncological diseases are chronic. The patient should be monitored by the oncologist for lifelong cancer (the exception is basal cell cancer, this diagnosis is removed after five years of remission) and undergo examinations in the first year-every three months, the second year-every six months, then-usually once a year. Moreover, for each type of cancer – its own research and their frequency. But some people prefer to forget everything and disappear from the field of view of oncologists. Some of them then return with a neglected relapse.
Does timely diagnosis always guarantee that the patient will immediately begin to treat?
In the treatment of cancer, the main factor is time. According to the standards, specialized treatment should begin no later than 30 days after the patient got to the oncologist. During this period, he must undergo an additional investigation to confirm oncodiagnosis, an oncological consultation should take place. I will not hide, on this path, sometimes malfunctions occur. According to calculations, there should be one oncologist for 20 thousand people. But they are not enough everywhere, and not all medical organizations have equipment in sufficient quantities. But these problems are gradually solved. The institutes allocate budget places for students and for residents who will work in our clinics, and colossal money from the budget of both federal and regional ones is allocated for the purchase of the necessary equipment.
