The 15-year-old schoolboy from Khabarovsk was on the verge of life and death during a vacation in Thailand. The teenager was ill with SARS and suddenly suffered a heart attack. Doctor Andrey Zvonkov He told Aif.ru how the cold could cause such consequences.
A rare complication
According to media reports, it all started with the usual malaise. First, the teenager’s mother fell ill – the woman had ordinary SARS. After some time, signs of a cold appeared at her son. There were no unusual symptoms. But at night the teenager felt unwell – at first he complained about pain and numbness in his hand. Mom thought that the son could leave the limb in a dream, but soon he had unpleasant sensations in his chest.
This alerted a woman – by four in the morning, the woman decided to urgently bring the child to the nearest clinic. Already at the Pattaya hospital, doctors said that the boy had a suspicion of a heart attack and he needs a shunting (Restoring blood flow in the heart – approx. Ed.).
Before the operation, the family was supposed to make a deposit of 100 thousand Thai baht – this is about 245 thousand rubles. While my mother was trying to urgently contact the insurance company, the condition of the child worsened, and he was transferred into intensive care.
Later, doctors said that the cause of the heart attack was a rare complication after SARS. The infection hit the heart, causing acute ischemia (reduction or termination of blood circulation in organs – approx. Ed.). The doctors managed to save the young man – the operation was successful, the teenager came to his senses. The costs were taken by the insurance company. Now the family remains in Thailand.
Work not in viruses
A heart attack at this age is an extremely rare phenomenon, and usually this is preceded by serious health problems that the family could not even know, the doctor Andrei Zvonkov explained. For example, diabetes.
“As a result of diabetes, blood vessels are affected. Therefore, any problem that can occur due to respiratory disorders and impaired normal oxygenation, that is, the supply of oxygen to the tissue, can lead, among other things, to the development of heart ischemia-up to myocardial infarction, ”the doctor explains.
The second cause of heart attack in a 15-year-old teenager could be an innate high level of cholesterol.
“This disease is genetically inherited, more often in men, less often in women, with a high level of cholesterol in the body initially. If a person, so to speak, from birth, is high, naturally, that this cholesterol is also postponed everywhere, ”suggested calls. “Sometimes the signs of such a disease can be seen on the skin, in the form of fat deposits or liessantems -“ rice grains ” – in the eyes, on the eyelids, on the wings of the nose.”
If the boy really had such a hereditary pathology, any viral load could cause a chain reaction.
