So that Serve

Tirzepatida is indicated for the treatment of uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus, and should be part of a balanced diet and exercise to control blood sugar levels.

This remedy can be used alone when the person has intolerance or contraindications to treatment with metformin or used in conjunction with other antidiabetic remedies, according to the orientation of the endocrinologist. Check out the main drugs for diabetes.

How it works

Tirzepatida has a double action as it acts on GLP-1 receptors (peptide-1 similar to glucagon) and GIP receptors (insulinotropic polypeptide dependent on glucose) present in the pancreas, brain, intestines, hearts, adipose tissue, leukocytes and blood vessels.

GLP-1 and GIP are hormones, called incredetins, naturally produced by the intestine, and which have the function of stimulating insulin release by pancreatic cells, reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, decreasing gastric emptying and promoting satiety.

In this way, this remedy helps to regulate blood sugar levels, reduce glucagon levels, improve insulin sensitivity, reduce hunger for food intake, and modulate fat metabolism.

Fits to lose weight?

Tirzepatida has shown a weight reduction in people with type 2 diabetes, as it sends signs of satiety to the brain and reduces gastric emptying, reducing hunger, causing a reduction in the amount of calories ingested daily and, therefore, this medicine can also lead to weight loss.

Some studies [1,2] They have shown that tirzepatida has a greater effect on weight reduction than semaglutado in people with obesity or overweight, as in addition to activating GLP-1 receptors, it also stimulates GIP receptors.

However, this remedy has no official indication and approved by Anvisa to lose weight, in cases of obesity or overweight, and does not replace regular physical activity and the balanced weight loss diet. Learn how to do a balanced diet to lose weight.

In addition, there is another remedy that contains tirzepatida, Zepbound, which is suitable for weight loss, but is not yet available in Brazil.
