GLP-1 and GIP are hormones, called incredetins, naturally produced in the gut, acting as follows:
- Decrease gastric emptying;
- Promote satiety;
- Decrease the feeling of hunger for food intake
- Encourage insulin release by pancreatic cells;
- Reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver;
- Improve insulin sensitivity;
- Modulate fat metabolism.
GLP-1 and GIP receptors are found in the pancreas, brain, intestines, hearts, kidneys, adipose tissue, leukocytes and blood vessels.
Zepound, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Ozepic to lose weight
Zepbound, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Ozepic belong the same class of medicines, the LPG-1 agonists.
Zepbound (tirzepatida) and Wegovy (semaglutide) are suitable for losing weight.

Mounjaro (thypatide) and Ozepic (Semaglutado), although they can lead to weight loss in people with diabetes, are not approved for weight loss.
