Losing weight is a complex process. And many people hope that all savings and fat deposits will go everywhere and at the same time. At the same time, it turns out that even though a person lost weight, and an impressive chin did not go away. Why is this happening and what affects this, Aif.ru told Andrey Zhuk, an orthodontist of the highest category, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Vice-President of the Union of Lingual Orthodons of the Russian Federation.
It is customary to bind many aesthetic problems of the face primarily with excess weight. You just have to lose weight a little or do special gymnastics – and the problem will leave. However, in the case of the second chin, the problem may be much deeper (sometimes in the literal sense), sometimes even heavy artillery – hardware cosmetological procedures and lipolitics do not bring the expected effect.
Often the cause of the presence of a second chin is a wrong bite. This is especially obvious in people without excess weight.
How do different types of incorrect bite form a second chin?
Cross bite (the lower jaw and teeth displaced back). If the lower jaw is shifted back (retrogenathy), the chin seems poorly developed, and the hyoid area sags. The skin and muscles lose their support, sagging is formed, even if a person has no excess weight.
Deep bite (excessive overlap with the upper teeth of the lower). The position of the lower jaw is violated, it goes back, which provokes a retracted profile and fold in the neck. This enhances the effect of the second chin.
Open bite (when the teeth do not close completely). Due to the weakness of the muscles, the chin does not receive the desired load, the skin loses the tone faster, which contributes to sagging. Such people often form a habit of breathing with their mouths, which also negatively affects the oval of the face.
Deformation of the maxillofacial muscles. With improper bite, the muscles supporting the chin and neck work unevenly. As a result, clamps appear, lymph flow worsens, which contributes to the swelling and sagging of tissues.
The height of the bite is the most important Anti-Age factor in modern orthodontics. When your teeth are erased, you not only get poor-quality food, but also a hyper-loading of the temporomandibular joint and, as a result, you have the height and physiological volume of the lower jaw-where the deficiency of bone structures will always be a deficiency of proper proportions.
How to rectify the situation?
Physiotherapy. First of all, if you have a second chin, you will want to try myogymnastics, face massage and “conscious” posture. Such measures can give a temporary result, but they will not solve the problem. On the contrary, with an uncontrolled approach, muscle, hematomas and other unpleasant consequences can cause an uncontrolled approach, if the problem actually lies in the bite defect.
Surgical intervention. If funds allow, many patients, before consulting at the orthodontist, turn to plastic surgeons. In the process of such an intervention, you can really get a quick result, but it will not be physiological. If this is not an excess of fabrics, but the lack of their support with the face with a frame due to the wrong bite, other aesthetic problems can be replaced by the second chin. Fortunately, competent surgeons and cosmetologists always send their patients to preliminary orthodontic consultation to exclude further deformations.
Orthodox treatment. Correction of a bite is not only about the health of the teeth and proper digestion. It is also a beautiful frame that supports the soft tissues of the face, forming the correct facial expressions and symmetrical features. Therefore, at first, orthodontic treatment begins to form a new appearance. Patients note a decrease in the visibility of wrinkles, smoothing out folds, redistribution of volumes (they go away, and the cheekbones, on the contrary, manifest). The same applies to the second chin: due to the displacement of the jaw in their physiological position, soft tissues receive additional support, and the problem goes away.
Orthodontic treatment with a bite height – to correct the bite height, a set of work with temporary and constant orthopedic lining is necessary, a combination with micro screws and special pull -up rubber bands. This is an international protocol, you need to understand which of the orthodontists can correctly implement it.
And if this is not an orthodontic problem?
No matter how you like quick and light paths, if you do not suffer and do not suffer from excess weight, and the second chin does not leave, this is an orthodontic problem. Do not be afraid of consultation of an orthodontist. In fact, this is the easiest way to get the desired contours of the face.
Unlike plastic surgery and cosmetology, orthodontics in 9 cases out of 10 are non -invasive, that is, it does not require deep damage. This is many times more aesthetic: transparent eliners or braces in the color of enamel do not need to be hidden, unlike postoperative seams and hematomas. This is painless: dental displacement occurs gradually and does not require injections of anesthesia and the constant use of painkillers. And, in fact, orthodontics is more effective: once and for all, having returned the lower jaw to the correct position, you keep the correct face frame for life.
The second chin will no longer return
In fact, orthodontic treatment eliminates most of the problems, if you want to stop premature aging once and for all, tighten and improve the oval of your face, get rid of visible wrinkles and folds, eliminate the broth and the second chin, first of all, seek orthodontic advice. This will allow you to highly eliminate the root of the problem and save your body from expensive interventions.
